NOMADS kept their Redditch Skittles League title hopes alive with a two-pin victory against Jumbo Jet Set.
The victors started well after scoring 75 pins in the first leg to take an early lead which stretched to 16 pins at the end of leg two.
However, the Jets responded in legs three and four as Dennis Compton produced stacks of 14 and 13 on his way to an individual score of 49 – the highest of the season to date.
Nomads held a one-pin lead going into the final leg and left Jumbo Jets needing 62 pins for victory as the latter side fell just short with a score of 59 pins.
For Nomads, Mac Eaton (39), Geoff Loat (38) and Alan Cummings (37) top scored while Compton (49, 14 and 13 stacks), Dave Badsey (36) and Rich Johnston and Liz Rowberry (both 35) all impressed for Jumbo Jets.
Elsewhere, Lodge Farmers set the early pace to lead The Borough by 15 pins after leg one.
The Borough recovered to win each of the next three legs and reduce that deficit to six pins.
However, the Borough could only manage 54 pins in the last leg which left Farmers needing 49 pins for victory which the latter side comfortably achieved.
For Lodge Farmers, Frank Morris (42) and Paul Cotton, Tim Jones and Glyn Morley (all 35) top scored while Julian Workman (37), Michelle Court (36, 12 stack) and Steve Court (36) all impressed for the Borough.
And in a top versus bottom clash, Engineers swiftly opened up a 21-pin lead after two legs against Bernie’s Bolts.
The Bolts won leg three before Engineers won the final two legs which the left the Bolts needing a mammoth 90 pins for victory.
For Engineers, Mark Ganderton (37) and Luke Saunders and Joe Kelso (both 36) top scored while Jess Andrews (39, 12 stack), Craig McSweeney (33) and Paul Blayney and Lewis McSweeney (both 32) impressed for Bernie’s Bolts.
