C AND G Show moved to the top of the Redditch Skittles League following the latest round of matches.
The new leaders secured a convincing win over The Borough who remain rooted to the foot of the table.
And C and G Show won each leg for maximum points and finished with the season’s highest team total so far – until Lodge Farmers capped it later in the week.
In form Dave Orton made the season’s highest individual score to date with 47 (including 16 stack) for the winners and was well supported by Rich Fisher scoring 40.
Best for The Borough were Scott Few (35 pins) and Charlie Few (33 pins).
The season’s highest team total of 340 pins to date now belongs to Lodge Farmers who easily beat an
out of sorts Jumbo Jet Set.
And the winners took maximum points and had excellent individual scores from Rachel Morris making 44 (15 stack) and Frank Morris 40 (14 stack).
Jumbo Jets only threatened to win one leg and only Liz Rowberry, Steve Wardle and Len Quartly, each with 34 pins, managed good scores.
Last week’s joint table toppers, Swingers, came unstuck against Engineers. Swingers were ahead by five
pins after leg one, but found themselves behind after leg two and never recovered.
Engineers, yet to hit top form, had Ian Greenway making 41 (12 stack) and Darren Sanders chipping in with 34.
Below par Swingers had Paul Clifton scoring 40 and Martin Brennan 36.
Bernie’s Bolts, the other joint table toppers last week, also slipped up in what was the closest game of
the week against Nomads.
But for a modest second leg score, Bernie’s Bolts might well have won the game to remain top of the league.
In the end they won just two legs and had Mark Andrews and Lewis McSweeney with 37 pins apiece. The winners, Nomads, scored well and had Geoff Loat scoring 38 and teammates Alan Spreckley and Alan Cummings with 36 each.
