SKITTLES - Renegades on verge of semi-final place

THE Redditch Skittles League representative side, the Renegades, secured two more wins in the Worcester summer seven-a-side competition to all but guarantee a semi-final place.

Renegades beat an Accrington Stanley Supporters side 338-313 to collect 22 points and top the group after the winning the first five legs to open up a 25-pin lead.

Accrington won leg six by a single pin before Renegades took the final leg to secure victory as Glyn Morley (56), Rob Quartly (53) and Geoff Loat (51, 11 stack) all impressed.

And Renegades then saw off Dales 387-374 in a high-scoring affair despite losing the first leg by eight pins.

Renegades reduced the gap to three pins at the end of leg two before winning the next two legs to earn a 24-pin lead.

However, Dales fought back to win the remaining three legs but were unable to close the gap as Renegades claimed 16 points from the fixture.

Len Quartly (76) produced four consecutive stacks of 17, 13, 13, and 10 as Tim Jones (54), Mick Stanton, Craig Sears and Morley (all 52), Andy Clewlow (51) and R Quartly (50) all made half-centuries.
