THE Redditch Skittles League representative side, Renegades, triumphed in the Worcester summer seven-a-side competition.
Renegades came from behind to beat Heenans in the semi-final. establishing an 11-pin lead at the end of leg three.
And Renegades then took an unassailable 58-pin lead over the next two legs on their way to a comprehensive 416-349 victory as all of the Redditch side’s players scored more than half a century.
Leading the way was Mick Stanton (68, 16 and 13 stacks), followed by Len Quartly (63, 15 and 13 stacks), Andy Clewlow (61, 13 stack), Craig Sears (60, 16 and 13 stacks), Alan Cummings (56), Geoff Loat (55) and Tim Jones (53).
However, Renegades made a slow start in the final against Bellend to trail by three pins at the end of leg one and were 16 pins behind at the end of leg three.
Renegades dug deep to reduce the deficit to 10 pins over the next two legs before cutting the gap to three pins after their opponents posted a poor score in their penultimate leg.
A strong 57-pin final leg score from Renegades left their opponents needing a tricky 55 pins to win which Bellend were unable to achieve to hand the Redditch side the trophy by a 360-352 scoreline.
In the final, Rob Quartly (57, 14 stack), L Quartly (57, 13 and 10 stacks), Mac Eaton (53, 13 stack), Loat (52), Clewlow (50), Sears (47) and Glyn Morley (44) all played their part.
