BERNIE’S Bolts won a thriller against The Borough in the latest round of matches in the Redditch Skittles League.
Bolts took an early four-pin lead at the end of leg one only for The Borough to respond to lead by a single pin at the end of leg two.
However, Bolts pounced a poor third-leg score from The Borough to take a 14-pin lead only for the latter side to take advantage of Bolts poor fourth leg total to lead by five pins heading into the last leg.
Bolts produced their highest score of the game in the final leg to leave The Borough needing 70 pins for victory as the latter side fell 10 pins short of the required total.
For Bolts, Paul Blayney (37) and Dave Williams and Mark West (both 36) top scored while Steve Court (37, 11 stack), Michelle Court (37) and Scott Few (35) impressed.
Elsewhere, league leaders Lodge Farmers secured a one-sided win against Nomads who were a player short and duly paid the price in a 47-pin defeat.
Farmers won every leg to take maximum points from the fixture and improve their title chances in the process.
For Farmers, Tim Jones (46, 15 stack), Jamie McGill (37) and Paul Cotton and Glyn Morley (both 35) top scored while Alan Cummings (35, 10 stack) and Jim Child and Mac Eaton (both 35) were on form for Nomads.
Lastly, a rampant Engineers cruised to victory against Jumbo Jet Set as the latter side only managed to score 48 pins in the first leg.
Jumbo Jets improved over the remaining legs but failed to threaten the title challengers as Engineers came away with maximum points.
For Engineers, Ian Greenway (39, 13 stack) and Mark Ganderton, Josh Kelso and Joe Kelso (all 37) top scored while Rob Quartly (37), Rich Johnston (36) and Mick Stanton (35) impressed for Jumbo Jets.
