THE Borough finally secured their first win of the Redditch Skittles League season at the ninth attempt.

On the back of improved performances in recent weeks, The Borough finally secured that elusive first win with a 330-309 success against C and G Show.

The Borough opened up a 14-pin lead after leg three before C and G Show won the fourth leg by a single pin.

However, The Borough scored 72 pins in the final leg to leave C and G Show with too much to do as Borough’s Rhiannon Watson scored 42 (including two stacks of 12 and 10) and Charlie Few scored 42 (including 15 stack).

C and G Show’s best bowlers were Dave Orton, Angela Guest and Keith Edwards all with 33 pins.

Bernie’s Bolts secured a third successive win against Nomads to climb up to third in the table.

The first four legs were close before Bolts took a four-pin lead into the final leg and duly knocked over the 59 pins required for victory.

For Bolts, Rob Hackles and Dan Goodman notched 38 pins apiece whilst Mac Eaton (37) and Bob Browning (36) were Nomad’s most prolific bowlers.

Unbeaten league leaders Lodge Farmers remained perfect with victory against Jumbo Jets who recorded their lowest score of the season.

Jets won the first leg only for Farmers to win each of the next four legs with ease as Tim Jones top scored with 36 (11 stack) and Rachel Morris recovered from a calamitous start to score 25 (11 stack) for the winners.

The best Jets bowlers were Dennis Compton with 35 and Dan Hill and Ray Jones who scored 32 apiece.

Lastly, Engineers were always in control as they beat Swingers and won each leg comfortably to take maximum points and keep the pressure on leaders Lodge Farmers.

Engineers racked up an impressive 345 pins as Ian Greenway scored 40 (12 stack) and Joe Kelso scored 39 in an impressive display.

In reply for Swingers, Ron Baker made 40 (13 stack) and the trio of John Clifton, Norman Robinson and Martin Brennan all scored 33 each.
