SKITTLES - Title twist in Redditch Skittles League

THE battle at the top of the Redditch Skittles League table took a twist after Engineers beat Lodge Farmers in a tense game.

Engineers won the first leg by a single pin as Mark Ganderton scored the seven pins needed to clinch the opening leg.

And Ganderton repeated the trick in leg three after Engineers comfortably won legs two and four, however, Lodge Farmers were able to win the final leg.

For Engineers, Craig Sears (40, 13 stack) and Pete and Andy Clewlow (both 36) top scored while Tim Jones (45, 11 stack), Glyn Morley (42, 11 stack) and Andy Rumble (36) were on form for Lodge Farmers.

Had Lodge Farmers won either leg one or three, Engineers would have needed to take maximum points against The Borough in their final fixture but now only need to win at least three legs to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, The Borough recorded a convincing maximum points win over Swingers as the victors took the first three legs to storm into a 22-pin lead.

And after winning legs four and five, Scott Few (38), Rhiannon Watson (37, 12 stack), George Few and Jon Dyke (both 33) top score for The Borough.

For Swingers, Larry Hanks (35), Rob Baker (34) and Cody Baker (33) were their best scorers.

RESULTS

Lodge Farmers 332 (2pts) – Engineers 340 (9pts)

The Borough 314 (10pts) – Swingers 289 (1pt)
