THE top-three teams in the Redditch Skittles League all claimed victories in the latest round of matches.

League leaders Bernie’s Bolts edged out C and G Show who led by a single pin at the end of the second leg.

However, Bernie’s Bolts drew level before they opened up a two-pin lead at the end of leg four and scored the 59 pins required for victory in the final leg.

Mark Andrews (36) and Mark West (34) top scored for Bernie’s Bolts whilst Lily Orton and Dave Orton (both 36) were on form for C and G Show.

Title challengers Lodge Farmers saw their game against Swingers affected by the snow with players from both sides unable to reach the venue as each team played a guest bowler from Engineers.

And Farmers showed their class to take an unassailable 34-pin lead after the first four legs but were unable to complete a clean sweep as Swingers claimed the final leg.

Glyn Morley (40), Tim Jones (38) and guest Mark Ganderton (37) top scored for Lodge whilst guest Andy Clewlow (46, including 15 and 11 stacks), Rob Baker (37) and Paul Clifton (32) were on form for Swingers.

And third-placed Engineers also tasted victory against Nomads as they took a six-pin lead at the end of the second leg.

However, Nomads turned the game on its head to lead by four points ahead of the final leg only for Engineers to score the required 60 pins to win the game.

Josh Kelso (38) and Luke Saunders (37) top scored for for Engineers whilst Alan Cummings (43, 12 stack) and Mac Eaton, Bob Browning, and James Marshal (all 33) were on form for Nomads.

Lastly, The Borough went close to upstaging Jumbo Jet Set as they just fell short in the final leg.

Jumbo Jets raced into a 15-pin lead at the end of leg one but The Borough kept pace over the next three legs but were just unable to score the required 79 big for victory.

Len Quartly (41, 15 stack) and Rob Rowberry (36) top scored for Jumbo Jets whilst Charlie Few (43), Rhiannon Watson (40, 12 stack) and George Few (39, 15 stack) were on form for The Borough.
