Studley FC to host 30th anniversary reunion

Redditch Editorial 16th Aug, 2017   0

STUDLEY FC are welcoming players past and present, friends and family to their 30th anniversary celebrations later this month.

The anniversary reunion at the Beehive on Sunday, August 27 will feature a match between teams managed by Bees legends Lee Adams and Trevor Whittington and will be followed by a disco playing music from the past 30 years.

Studley president Dave Robinson said: “It would be great to see as many people as possible who enjoyed their time at Studley FC past and present.

“We would like to invite past managers, committee members and of course former players to join us.

“There will be memorabilia on display and of course it will be great to see Lee’s selection of former players go up against Trevor’s.

“We used to have a caravan as changing rooms and a field for a pitch, but now have facilities and a club to be proud of.”

Robinson explained how Studley’s side was formed.

“Thirty years ago, after being rejected by the Redditch Sunday League, BKL FC decided to form a Saturday side.

“I was chairman at the time and asked treasurer Dave Chiswell ‘how much money have we got?’.

“£8 and a match ball was his reply. A voice from the bar shouted ‘I’ll buy you a match ball’, so Studley BKL FC were alive and about to be kicking.”

The family event will also feature side stalls, a bouncy castle and buffet, all included in the £5 ticket price. Tickets for the event, which begins with the match at 2pm, are available on the day or from the club in advance. Children are admitted free. Contact 01527 853817.
