REDDITCH Swimming Club have successfully retained the Worcester Winter League shield they won last year as they pipped Worcester to claim a third title.

The club’s swimmers competed against Worcester, Sandwell Aquatics, Stourbridge, Pershore and Orion in the final round which was held at Droitwich Leisure Centre.

And after good results in the first two rounds, Redditch sealed back-to-back Worcester Winter League titles with a solid third round performance to finish with an overall score of 171 points.

Head Coach Jon Fletcher said: “Throughout the three rounds of the Worcester Winter League we have shown strength throughout all of the age groups.

“Swimmers have consistently fought for every single place with brilliant skills and technique.

“I am delighted that Redditch SC have been able to retain this title against some brilliant opposition and we will work hard to ensure we are even stronger next year.”

Redditch finished just six points ahead of Worcester (165) with Sandwell Aquatics (142), Stourbridge (140), Pershore (130) and Orion (93) further back.

The competition was first staged back in 1982 as Redditch clinched their third Worcester Winter League title in the club’s history.
