REDDITCH’s Felix Gill takes to the court in the second round of the Men’s doubles at Wimbledon this afternoon.
Gill and partner Arthur Fery will play German 11th seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies on court 17 with 2.30pm the estimated start time.
The pair overcame a tough opening match against Ecuadorian-Uruguayan duo Gonzalo Escobar and Ariel Behar as they eventually claimed a 7-5, 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-3) victory to win in straight sets.
And the 20-year-old comes into the grass season off the back of a successful run on clay, his preferred surface, having won the M15 Antalya series event with Argentine partner Roman Andres Burruchaga in March.
This was followed by a run to the semi-finals of the Nottingham Challenger 125 tournament with Fery before they were eliminated by fellow British duo Jonny O’Mara and Ken Skupski who went on to win the competition.
