WHITE Hart B teams now fill promotion places in two of the local bowling leagues after recent victories.

In Heart of England Over 60s League Division Three, Hart gained a vital 108-99 victory at RABL B and had four winning cards from Ken Brown (21-5), Rob Faulks (21-19), Sheila Humphreys (21-15) and Tom Hawkes (21-18) to take them above close rivals Wootton Hall.

White Hart B also kept up their fine form at the top of South & West Birmingham Division Four with a very easy 126-68 home win in a rearranged tie with RABL B.

They had all six winners in the process – Tom Hawkes (21-6), Sue Sugden (21-15), Kate Broome (21-14), Roger Broome (21-19), Mick Perrins (21-4) and Rob Faulks (21-10).

They had to play again the following day but found Wythall B tough opponents and had just one winner – Ken Brown – in a 112-85 away defeat.

The Heart of England A team gained the narrowest of Division Two away victories over RABL A as they triumphed 143-142 with wins for Paul Matthews (21-19), Ken Brown (21-18), Ian Humphreys (21-14) and Ray Richards (21-7).

However, the over 60s A team were beaten 110-86 in Division One by visitors College AG A as they had just two winners – Ray Richards (21-11) and Norman Batchelor (21-11).

The Heart of England B team gained a welcome Division Three home victory over Moseley CC B.

The 147-138 success came courtesy of wins for Kirk Wright (21-10), Anne Batchelor (21-17), Dave Edwards (21-16) and Rob Faulks (21-11).

However, they will need to win all their three remaining games to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

White Hart A had a fine run in the Thursday Consolation Cup but giving 36 shots to College Arms in the handicap semi-final was far too much to recover.

Ray Richards gained a fine 21-17 away win but, despite home wins for Paul Matthews (21-9), Sue Sugden (21-12) and Sheila Humphreys (21-20), Hart were beaten 190-142 on aggregate.

In Warwickshire and Worcestershire Premier Division Five, White Hart were beaten by 53 shots at Hollyfields where they had six winners.

Their three lady players Gill Croft, Sue Sugden and Sheila Humphreys all gained winning cards, while Matt Higgins and Ken Brown both won to 17.

Stan Pritchard made a miraculous recovery in his tie after being 15-1 down before snatching a 21-20 victory.

In the Yardley Wood Superleague, White Hart had three winners at home to Wootton Hall – Kirk Wright (21-15), Neil Laxton (21-13) and captain Gill Croft (21-11) – but were beaten and stay bottom of Division Three.
