WHITE HART can still achieve a fourth promotion this season even though their B team were defeated by rivals Colebrook B at home on Sunday in Northfield & District League Division Four.

Their B team have two games left which were both originally cancelled by their opponents and only in the last few days have White Hart managed to secure match dates after numerous attempts.

They will now play Weoley Castle B on Saturday morning and Woodbourne Sports on Sunday but may need maximum points from both matches to gain promotion to Division Three.

White Hart B were narrowly defeated 135-126 by a strongly reinforced Colebrook B team in a match of changimg fortunes.

Kirk Wright was their only winner in the first half, getting the better of a long tussle with Heart of England League Division One player Lee Whitehouse 21-18, but Hart fought back with three wins from the second half ties.

Neil Laxton beat Colebrook captain Jo Todd 21-3, Stan Pritchard gained another point for the home team by defeating Paul Rooney 21-11 and Kate Broome fought back well to win 21-19.

White Hart A had a disappointing end to their Northfield League Division Two season at The Maggies, where they had no individual winners in a 168-109 defeat, although Ian Humphreys (21-19) and Mike Estell (21-18) were only narrowly denied.

They still had a faint chance of promotion going into this final match but second place in the table went to their opponents as Hart finished fourth.

In Heart of England League Over 60s Division One, White Hart ended their campaign with a 118-101 home win over Yardley Wood Social.

There were wins for Ian Humphreys (21-14), Tom Hawkes (21-16), captain Mike Estell (21-18) and Kirk Wright (21-11), who was making his A team debut, to give them seventh place in the final table.

Promotion for the B team had already been confirmed and they had a few regular players unavailable for their final match at Mount Pleasant/Portland Road.

White Hart could only manage two winning cards from Rob Fauiks and Dave Kings (both 21-9) in a 102-79 defeat.

However, they can now look forward to a season in Division Two next year.

White Hart have an open day at their Headless Cross club on Saturday, starting at 11am. Everyone is welcome from regular bowlers to complete novices who wish to gain a greater knowledge of the game.
