White Hart up and running in Warwick & Worcester League

FOLLOWING home and away defeats by two of the league’s top teams, White Hart Bowling Club are up and running and off the foot of the table after a resounding 226-190 home win over Hockley Heath in Division Four of the Warwick & Worcester Premier Leagues.

The Redditch club fielded eight winners. Captain Stan Pritchard (21-17), Paul Matthews (21-9), Stuart Rice (21-6), Mick Perrins (21-13), Sue Sugden (21-13), Ian Humphreys (21-20), Rob Faulkes and Dave Kings (both 21-14) gave them both points in a very positive team performance, confirming the skipper’s view of the previous week that they would soon start climbing the table.

The Friday Over 60s A team also gained a good 18-shot home victory over a strong Acocks Green College team in Heart of England League Division One.

Ken Brown marked his first A team match with a fine 21-10 win and was supported by wins from Ray Richards, Stephen Turner and captain Ian Humphreys.

The Sunday B team were too strong for Weoley Castle B in Northfield & District League Division Five and had six winners on their home green.

Captain Di Pritchard took little time to record an easy 21-3 victory and was joined by Tim Hollingshead and Roger Broome (both 21-8 winners), Neil Laxton (21-9), and Kirk Wright (21-14), while both Kate Broome and Gill Croft both recorded good double-figure scores.

The Sunday A team began well at The Maggies in their Division Three tie as captain Stan Pritchard led by example with a 21-12 win, supported well by Tony Sugden (21-19) and his wife Sue (21-9). However, the home team recovered to take the match 145-126.

The RABL A and B teams proved too strong for their White Hart counterparts in the Heart of England Thursday leagues. Hart’s A team captain Paul Matthews was their only winner in the Division One away match, although Ray Richards, Stephen Turner and Tony Sugden all performed well.

The B team coped a little better in Division Three with three winning cards from captain Norman Batchelor (21-8), Sue Sugden (21-12) and Tim Hollingshead (21-20).

In Yardley Wood & District League Division Three, White Hart were disappointingly beaten at home by Selly Park B. Despite having three winning scores from captain Paul Matthews, Gill Croft and Tim Hollingshead, three other single-figure scores were costly for them although Elaine Meredith bowled well in her first ever team match.
