Youth is given a chance to shine

Redditch Editorial 6th Feb, 2020   0

YOUNGER members of Redditch Hockey Club enjoyed an excellent introduction to senior hockey when they featured in Redditch Ladies 2nds’ 2-0 defeat against Tenbury Ladies 2nds in Leominster.

Club newcomers Shannon and Abbi also featured for the visitors, for whom keeper Mel Vaughan pulled off a triple save when under pressure from the opposition, along with many more during the course of the game.

Hanna Bamford also impressed with her communication – directing play whilst on the ball to push the attack.

Thanks go to captain Louise Jennings for all her hard work and efforts in putting a team together. The side continue their Worcestershire League Division Three campaign at home to leaders Wyre Forest on Saturday.

Redditch Ladies first team drew 2-2 at Harborne 4ths in Division One and host Kings Heath Pickwick on Saturday.

Redditch men won 3-1 at home to Stourport 2nds in the West Midlands Premier Division and the second-placed Kingfishers travel to Solihull Blossomfield on Saturday.
