Millers march on in their quest for promotion

FECKENHAM maintained their excellent form with a crucial seven-wicket success over visitors Worcester Dominies and Guild to boost their Worcestershire League Division Two promotion hopes.

The Millers followed up their impressive win at leaders Redditch Entaco to move within 30 points of the table-toppers as a result of this resounding success and the Kingfishers’ defeat to second placed Chaddesley Corbett, who remain 20 points above Feckenham.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat but they found life tough against a disciplined Feckenham attack as only Henry Lewis (44) made a significant contribution in a total of 179 all out off 47 overs.

It was an excellent all-round effort from the Millers’ bowling attack as Tom Coulson (3-21), Mitch Douglas (3-33), Matt Grubb (2-33) and Matt Henning (2-45) all impressed.

In reply Feckenham did not have things all their own way initially as Sajid Ali (2-26) gave the visitors hope, but in-form duo Jamie Griffiths (52no) and Josh Stacey (46no) ensured a smooth path to victory for the hosts as they took their side to 180-3 in the 30th over.

A local derby at relegation-haunted Alvechurch & Hopwood awaits Feckenham on Saturday.
