CRICKET - Jordan heroics inspire Tanworth and Camp Hill to 10-wicket win against Elmley

SETH Jordan’s heroics helped Tanworth and Camp Hill bounce back from their opening day defeat in the Cotswold Hills Premier Division with a one-sided victory against newly-promoted Elmley Castle.

TACH won the toss and opted to field as Elmley’s Stuart Cullen (33) made some early inroads to help his side reach 43-1 after 10 overs.

At that point, Jordan had made the only breakthrough with a short ball which Will Dovey (3) could only spoon to Joe Kelso at square leg.

However, Jordan spectacularly ripped through Elmley’s batting line-up as he bowled four of their batters and trapped two LBW with a couple of superb deliveries feathered behind to Dan Williams.

At the other end Tim Keyte picked up two wickets but Jordan’s incredible return of 8-29 saw Elmley all out for just 63 – a collapse of nine wickets for 20 runs in the space of just seven overs.

And TACH made light work of the reply as Martin Perfect (25 not out) and James Carey (34 not out) secured the required runs inside 11 overs to secure Tanworth a 10-wicket victory.

Tanworth host Lapworth at Alderhanger Lane in their next outing on Saturday, May 18.
