THE WORCESTERSHIRE League Premier Division derby went the way of Astwood Bank last weekend, who ousted Redditch Entaco by six wickets to continue their five-match unbeaten run.

Moving up to fifth, Bank looked a class act with the bat in hand and swept their way to victory with just over nine overs to spare – leaving Entaco’s bowlers in their wake.

Redditch opener Luke Davis (31, lbw) stood out in the visitors’ top order at Sambourne Lane, but it would not be until the fall of the fourth wicket that Entaco picked up some momentum – Haleem Basharatt (24) aided skipper Dan Protherough (68, no) to add a stand of 46 to the tally.

Waqas Ali (24, no) then helped the Redditch captain to see out the innings with a partnership of 59 and reach the 200-run mark.

In reply, Astwood Bank also made a steady start to reach 69-3, before Sam Thomas (60) and Michael Desmond (60, no) both starred by providing the bulk of the home side’s runs to win the day.

On Saturday, The Bank host Stourport-on-Severn, second, while ninth-placed Redditch visit Colwall in eighth.
