FECKENHAM moved to within three points of the Worcestershire League Division Two promotion places thanks to a 51-run victory in a high-scoring affair at bottom side Alvechurch & Hopwood.

The Millers collected 20 points to take full advantage of second placed Chaddesley Corbett’s five-wicket defeat at Worcester Dominies and Guild.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat and they found conditions to their liking as openers Daniel Bloomer (39) and Muhammad Idrees (62) set a fine platform.

Jamie Griffiths then continued his excellent form with a fluent 93 including 17 fours before becoming the second victim of Saurabh Sata (2-47).

Jamie Reddish then made a hard-hitting 48 as the visitors totalled 318-9 off their 50 overs despite the best efforts of Jahan Khan (3-30) and Rob Morgan (2-11).

The hosts showed admirable fight in their reply as opener Matt Hayward made 60 to keep his side in the game despite excellent bowling from Mitchell Douglas (4-56) who removed the top order.

Dan Wolstencroft (51) and Mike Reuben (56no) then showed plenty of commitment to the cause in the middle order but their side were always behind the required run rate and the home side finished on 267-6.

With five matches remaining, Feckenham host Wormelow on Saturday and Alvechurch travel to Chaddesley Corbett.
