TIM Flowers admits he must ‘suck up’ Alvechurch’s recent run of defeats after his injury-hit side lost at home to leaders Spalding United.

Church suffered a 2-0 defeat against Spalding at Lye Meadow to lose for the fourth game in a row in the Southern League Premier Central.

And Flowers insists he simply has to find a way to turn his side’s form around despite missing a number of first team players through injury.

Flowers said: “As a manager I’ve got to try and suck it up at the moment. I’ve got to try and find a way.

“It’s clear we’ve got problems injury-wise. I’ve got to try and find a way to win a game and win some points until the players get back.

“I’ve got to suck it up, work with what I’ve got and try and eke out a result. We’ve lost four in a row in the league.

“I tried to change shape because of the lack of bodies available but we suffered more injuries and had to rejig things again.

“We move on, it doesn’t get any easier against Harborough. These two games couldn’t have come at a worse time.”

Second-half goals from Jordan Nicholson and substitute Abduramane Sani condemned Church to defeat while the home side failed to score for the fourth game in succession.

And Flowers believes current table toppers Spalding are one of the favourites to achieve promotion out of the division this season.

Flowers added: “They were the better team. They’ve got some unbelievable players and they’ll probably be in the top two.

“They’re top of the league and we’ve lost four games in a row. We’ve been done by a swift counter attack and a mistake from a set-piece.

“They had two gilt-edged chances in the first half but we made two unbelievable blocks when they looked like they were going to score.

“We needed to stay in the game and eke something out of it but they went through another gear in the second half.”

Alvechurch are next in action against Harborough Town on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at the Community Football Ground.
