Kings Norton ease to 11-try win

RUGBY

KINGS Norton Seconds cut loose with 11 tries for a thumping win over Stourbridge 3rds in their Worcestershire and Herefordshire Merit League.

After Kings had rattled up two quick tries from Sam Back and Alex Harvey, the visitors made life even more difficult for themselves when one of their players was red carded for verbal abuse against the match official.

Plucky Stourbridge tackled ferociously and never gave up throughout but were unable to contain the liberated Kings-men who began to dominate the game with some scintillating rugby led by an exuberant Captain Cory Allen.

First-half tries from Nick Freeman, Mike Smallen, Ed Fogg, Carl Ford, and winger Harj plus two conversions gave Kings a 34-point half time lead.

Kings continued their domination from the restart but after scoring four more tries the ref called an early end of the match to avoid Stourbridge’s plucky players suffering further punishment.

Full-back Ford finished off a series of passing movements to touch down and Tom Kendrick, Smallen and Fogg added to the tally. Fogg booted two conversions.

Kendrick crashed over converted by Fogg and Smallen finished off another three-quarter move to score out wide before Fogg completed the scoring himself with a wonderful dummy to cross under the posts and slot the extras.

Kings go to the pool for a fixture on Saturday keen to continue the development of their squad in advance of their next League match away to Pershore on Saturday October 22.
