Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate (FSK) Redditch athletes and teacher Sensei Dave Treadwell will compete on the world stage after a strong performance at a national event in Norwich.
Team FSK took a squad of talented athletes to Norfolk with all students cementing their places in the Great Britain squad.
Josh Thorp won a gold and two silvers whilst Dean Cooke won bronze and silver in a tough sparring category that included Dan grade black belts.
Courtney Harrison also won bronze and silver in point sparring whilst Josh Smith won bronze and two silvers in kata and point sparring.
Theo Giles impressed with three golds and two silvers in all categories whilst Sensei Treadwell won gold and silver to lead the way for his students.
GB Coach, Sensei Treadwell said: “Today is another fantastic day for the club and all deserved their place in the squad and now they have the chance to train with the rest of the elite GB athletes over the next 12 months and take part in the World Martial Arts Games in the USA in August 2023.
“I knew deep down if they competed how they train week in week out, and believed in their own ability regardless of what was in front of them, they would succeed.
“Each time they step on the mat they not only do the club proud, they grow in confidence and it shows in the results and performances.
“And that is not only by myself as their Sensei, it is seen in the comments made by other clubs and instructors from up and down the country.”
